The hostel and campsite are Pet friendly and are ideal for Family holidays and solo traveller set in a grassed courtyard alongside the converted mill and stables.
The attractive island of Sanday is the largest of the North Isles of Orkney and as the name suggests its most outstanding features are the sweeping bays with their white un-spoilt sandy beaches.
Sanday is a peaceful place which requires time to savour its gentle charm. We are ideally located for enjoying everything Sanday has to offer. Come and experience Sanday an Orkney Island at its best with beautiful sandy beaches a isle steeped in history and charm.
We offer a sanctuary for those that seek it a perfect place to relax.
These wooden huts known as Camping Pods are a convenient alternative to the tent yet still retain all the ambiance of the camping holiday with a touch of comfort.
Its like camping but no need to put up a tent the Pods have fully insulated walls and floor with double glazed window and full size single beds
We have three pods available all have electric and heating you can have 1 or 2 single beds or a double . Bedding supplied you just need to bring your camping equipment. BREAKFAST is available (£10).

The Hostel is a conversion of the former Byre outbuildings at Ayre and is entirely self-contained with conservatory added to the hostel for you to rest after those long exploring walks.
The hostel lies along one side of a grassed court area, safe for children to play in and the rear of the hostel overlooks Ayre beach.
With a gentle slopping ramp accessibility and no steps it is ideal for wheel chair users. Room 2 has extra width between beds and the shower is wet room style.
You can even have exclusive use of the hostel, sleeps up to 7 people. The cost for this is £80 per night for multiple nights. The price includes all bedding and use of the site facilities.

The campsite at Ayre’s Rock is small quiet and peaceful. The pitches overlook a beach view, where you may be fortunate enough to see otters sporting, or the seals may pop up to get a good look at you and your camping arrangements. The campsite is open all year round so you can come and view the Aurora borealis and dark skies
Our campsite has seven tent pitches, two hardstanding EHU pitches and two campervan EHU grassed pitches a modern heated shower block, and for scout and guiding groups we have 2 separate fields. BREAKFAST available.
Campervans and Motor Homes are welcome on our hard standing or grassed pitches. We also offer a day stop for wild campers waste disposal and fresh water top-up you can also shower and use the washing machine and download your next movie.
